Blog Task 43 - Production Reflection, filming 25/02/15

Due to inset day on Monday 23rd February, we missed a potential three hours to work on our title sequence and complete all of the things we had left to do, such as finish the second rough cut and film the bathroom or college scenes. This was a huge problem for us so we decided to meet up outside of lesson time, after college on Wednesday 25th. This obviously wasn't planned nor was it in our production schedule however it needed to be done and Wednesday was the day that we were all free, as every other day was impossible due to lessons clashing and the time-frame that we had before our deadline.

On Wednesday, we used the time that we had to re-film our bathroom scene - this had to be done because the initial footage we had of this was in 720p. rather than 1080p like the rest of our clips - an issue as it would look strange when editing and in the final edit if several of the scenes were of different quality. All of us contributed in several different ways, taking upon many different tasks individually; for one, I was both directing and filming. Jakub's tasks were to act and direct, and Seren and Ogo both switched between directing, filming and taking pictures to upload to the blog, too.

This scene was probably one of the longest scenes for us to film, simply due to the amount of different angles and shots we decided to incorporate. Although we were staying back in our spare time, we didn't have a long time to complete this as the media equipment had to be returned by 4:30 latest, however we managed to finish this just in time.

With this done, we decided that the next day (Thursday 26th) would be used to film our final scene, the college scene, and to put together all of the clips to form our second rough cut.

Blog Task 43 - Production Reflection, filming 26/02/15

This Thursday, we were intending to complete the last of our filming for the title sequence. This would've been the college scene in which myself (Abby) and Jakub (Ezhno) are on the benches outside of college, the first shot after Ezhno first wakes up from his nightmare. We didn't go through with filming on this date though due to the rain, which would've both made it quite hard to film and also would've changed the atmosphere of the scene entirely, making it too similar to that of the nightmare. Aside from this setback, the only other problem we encountered during this lesson was indecisiveness as to how each shot should be cut, however this was resolved by each of us giving our opinion and contributing our ideas for improvement. eventually compromising and settling on one approved idea within the group.
The weather was a massive setback for our group however we decided to make use of the time by splitting up and working on several parts of the title sequence in small groups - Ogo and Jakub were editing the remainder of the scenes (the hallway and bathroom scenes) whilst Seren and I were looking for some foley sounds that would be appropriate to use in certain sections of our title sequence; along with this, I also managed to put together a soundtrack for the beginning of the title sequence myself'. By the end of the lesson, we had mostly finished our second rough cut and hoped that the next lesson would be used to add the finishing touches to our rough cut, such as: making the transitions between scenes smoother, adding voice overs and of course, filming our final scene.

In this re-do filming session we was filming Lindseys and Jakubs scene again. For two reasons first of all the first footage we had was in bad quality in comparison to all of our other footage. Another reason why we re did this session was because, there was a lot of laughing in the other footage which we had previously, which was hard to edit, this is why as a group we chose to redo this scene.
My self and Ogo took photos of what we were filming. The photographs show what we did in this filming session. I personally think this filming session was good as we got the last scene we needed to complete our opening title sequence.

Today we filmed Lindseys and Jakubs scene again because the original footage was of a different quality(720p) compared to our other footage(1080p)and to merge the two together when editing wouldve created problems for us in Final Cut Pro. Also we never actually had a scene that was suitable to use as there was alot of laughing in every take and to edit the laughing out would've resulting in alot of cutting which would've required alot of transitions when what we need is a scene shot in one take. Me and Seren took photos of this process and she uploading it to her Flickr Account. The filming session was good and productive and am glad this was the last filming session and we are now on the process of finishing our film. It does bother me that we deterred from our initial production schedule but the reason for a re shoot wasn't planned and these things are prone to happen in the process of film making.

In this session we was filming the bathroom scene again. I took photographs of my group members while filming as well as them taking me while filming. These photos shows what we did during our filming session. Overall i think this session was good as we got one of the most important scenes done with no mistakes.

We organised to film on a Wednesday after college. We filmed the bathroom scene where Eznho goes into another dream. Seren took photographs of everyone whilst production took place. The whole session was productive and was completed in less than 2hrs.

I took photographs of the equipments we used as well as my other group members to show what we were doing. For the blogging task 45 we had to do interviews to show and ask questions on how things went during the stage of filming and acting as well as directing. Overall i believe this session was really good as we did two interviews which were successful, and showed our target audience what the actresses and the directors did which can give them an insight to the rest of the movie.

This was an interview session with the cast. Jakub acted as an active crew member whilst Seren was holding the press junket with me and Lindsey as acting cast members promoting the film. It was a fun experience to promote a film that weve all worked hard on and was a fun way of coming to the end of production and into post-production

Production: - Interview with the actress from our movie mirrordream

Here is an interview i attended to promote the film. It has already garnered more views than we expected with at least 15 views.Doing this interview put the concept of film production into perspective, We booked a small room in the sixth form college and Jakub hooked up a microphone and acted as a 'crew member'. Seren was asking the press questions and the whole process of it  felt very real. I myself felt like an actress promoting her own film and acting very excited for it to be released. This has been one of the highlights for me through this whole process.

Production: Our Very Own Website!

It was was an extension task to create our own website to promote our film. We were advised to use the 'Wix' software to do this. Having never used this software it was particularly hard to learn how to use it. However I started to make a template and to design the front page of our website. My group mention how they have attempted to try and make their own website themselves.  Here is a screen shot of what I have done so far.
