Reflection And Formally Closing off my Blog
Creating this media product has been a journey which i will forever cherish. I have really enjoyed blogging and taking on the role as a film maker for the last 3 months and the memories made are unforgettable ones. The friendships ive made, the skills ive acquired and the fact that my eyes have now been opened into the film world now are experiences that i am incredibly grateful for.
Although we faced many trials and tribulations all was not in vain as despite challenges we pulled through , overcoming each issue such as editing issues or filming disruptions as a team.
I am sad that it is finally coming to an end but can proudly say this has been an amazing experience.

Post Production:Finalised story Line
Our Original synopsis of our film was about a boy called Eznho who could go into his own dreams and live his life through them. Having being advised to alter our storyline and its content as it its too complicated to portray we went forward with the risk of doing so. Throughout the whole process we didn't find it hard filming aspects of our storyline as we were previously told however our storyline did alter. We hadn't stuck to every aspect of our story board. Examples of our new content including, the bathroom scene where Eznho goes into he dream and the scene were Eznho and his adopted sister has a brief encounter with each other.
Looking over my story line i am beginning to see plot holes in our storyline. The relationship between Eznho and his adopted sister isnt clear. The two interactions don't display that the two are related. We could shown this through maybe more dialogue by using the word 'mum or dad'. This is also the same concept with Serilda and Eznho no established relation is seen between the two.
Post Production:...Where would i film again?
Where would i film againMy group selected the location of filming in Broxborune,Hertfordshire. I had never visited this place before but judging by pictures the location was ideal. However because my me and group were very fixed on this location,any other suggestions were ideas which weren't worth considering as we all were set to film in Broxbourne. Outside college hours i done a little exploring of locations myself. If i were to film the opening scene where Eznho is running again i would film in Islington Green in the back alley (closer to our set within the college and so reducing travel costs). I like this area as when it is nightfall the place is very quiet and although shops are present ,few are open at night. I feel as if the shops and the secluded area would set the scene of a youth drama, that he is running away from someone in an urban environment.Post Production Advertisment through Flickr
Throughout the whole process we have taken videos and photos on every day we filmed/edited. Seren created a central flickr account to uploaded these images and videos. I think this was very effective as despite all of us taking different photos we have an account of all of them on one software. Flickr is a world wide website and has a very large user percentage and following. Flickr has allowed us to publish and document this process on its photo sharing website free of charge,thus promoting our film to whomever views our page.

We created a Facebook page where we would post the latest updates our movie. I think Facebook is a great way to share and promote our film to others as it has alot of people joined to it and also has major companies affiliated with it.By adding a profile picture of me and my group lets our following know production is underway and by regularly posting statuses people can gain the latest updates and get involved.

Post Production: Seeking a second opinion from someone outside our target audience
Seeking a second opinion
Having uploaded the final edit and being proud of what my group and i achieved,I sought out a second opinion to my friend who doesnt fit the audience of whom this film was targeted at. Shes 23 and has no interest in psychological thrillers. I asked her a series of questions.
1) Did you like the title sequence we have created?
Considering this is an AS low budget production the company titles were very professional. Although i didn't understand the plot line but i knewit is centralized around the boy we continuously see
2)Was it obvious what the film was about?
It not very obvious. You telling me its about dreams and a boy who can controll his own dreams made me realise it is
3) What was your favorite part?
The beginning when the film starts and his shoe comes in. That was very Hollywood style and got me very excited.4)Would you recommend this to a friend?
I wouldnt recommend it to anyone who doesnt have an interest in thrillers as they might be confused
5)Who do you think the film should be targeted at?
Teenagers.
6)Any good aspects of the film, such as sound, music ,cinematography?
The croplines made the film look professional and epic!. Despite it being an AS media production it looked quite professional.The cinematography of it all was impressive
7)Would you go and see it ?
Maybe/maybe not.
* What do you think we can improve on?
The film itself is very jumpy and the cuts aren't precise. To me i think the storyline needs to be tighter and more clearer so it can be friendly to people who have never seen a psychological thriller before.
Once again Having heard her feedback i totally understand where she is coming from. The feedback is much better from our second rough cut and i am very pleased that people are impressed with the quality of our camera! However once again i agree that our story line is very faint and not clear. Having said that there is nothing i can do now to change this and once again hope that to other audiences who are familiar with the mystery of psychological thrillers can relate and understand the opening of our film.

In this re-do filming session we was filming Lindseys and Jakubs scene again. For two reasons first of all the first footage we had was in bad quality in comparison to all of our other footage. Another reason why we re did this session was because, there was a lot of laughing in the other footage which we had previously, which was hard to edit, this is why as a group we chose to redo this scene.

Post Production:Feelings about our film
On Friday 6th March we uploaded our final edit. We compressed it through handbrake and exported it as a quick time movie. It took 45 minutes to do this. Watching our film on the blog left me feeling satisfied as how it turned out. Because the format was 1080p on FCP exporting to the blog lessened the quality of it so when watching it i was skeptical on how the picture looked. After a break from filming and editing i watched my film on the blog. I am pleased with it but have a few criticisms as to how it came out. With so many transitions and cuts to me it resembles a movie trailer. Nonetheless the people i have previewed the film to have praised it and have exalted the cinematography of it. They are amazed by the precision of the shots and there story itself. A friend of mine refereed to it as 'Professional 'and it looks like a ''Real film'
Production: Early Start and The Stressful Finish of our Film (Reflection 06/03/2015)
Yesterdays expected schedule didn't go to plan. We had to vacate from the sixth form at 5.00pm sharp and this cut back our editing time.As a result of this Me and Seren organised to complete our film at 8am in the morning.Not expecting substantial progress but at least lessening the work we had to do at lunch time. Nevertheless with Me and Seren racing against time achieved quite a lot. The sound needed a few filters and the audio we created needed to fade in and out upon arrival and exit. I completed this whilst waiting for Seren. On Serens arrival we edited the titles which were scattered around our timeline and made the duration of them smaller so they would flow at the same time as our footage. With a few issues that were solved with the help of the IT technician , such as having difficulties moving our croplines,me and Seren completed our film with the exception of adding the 'BFI' logo and removing the excess background noise in one of the clips
While everything seemed to be going well it was devastating to find out that mine and Serens work had been in vain and to Lindseys dismay,who came to meet us at lunching, her editing time was cut as we were faced with 3 huge dilemmas. Whilst we had our title sequence including our names as 'director, producer and music composer etc (as we all took on each of these roles) we were informed that this was not allowed. 'fake names where supposed to take the place of the crew and our names weren't allowed to appear twice. This was very frustrating as we had planned and created our titles early in production,in the middle of research/planning in fact. The more frustrating thing is that we weren't informed earlier on in the process of this film that the titles were to be made up and not include our name.
I know it is not right to use music that you yourself didn't create on your own production but i didn't know if we were to use this we would be penalised for it. If i was strictly told this at the beginning of this process then i would not have went ahead and added the 'Gravity' soundtrack to our film . Another frustrating issue was the fact we were also not informed about the website which held the copyright free music only when faced with the issue of trying to find a replacement soundtrack me and my group were informed about this which we were very frustrated about. which . Having said that i solely take credit as we as media students are supposed branch out and explore other forms of media and in the future prior to production ill now know to research copyright free music websites.
Our music dilemma really offset our track to finishing our film. Although immediately Lindsey had found an alternative , we both had second thoughts as to whether it would be suitable for the whole duration of our whole film or not so whilst Seren sorted out the titles issue me and Lindsey search for a better alternative for at least more that 30 minutes. This was a considerable amount of time considering the fact it was lunchtime and Me and Seren had to attend another lesson.We couldnt find a better alternative even after the IT technician told us about the website 'creativecommons'. As a result we went with the soundtrack Lindsey chose initially which is still satisfactionary.
Amid all of these problems Serens computer crashed whilst adding the titles and editing our footage.As result we kept having to render and undo all of our action. This wasted time + the time it took to find an ideal soundtrack really set us back completing our film
Having got permission from my History teacher at 1.20 to skip the first half of my lesson in order to meet the deadline for 4pm I stayed to continue to edit. We attempted to add the BFI logo into our sequence as we felt needed a distributor,though Lindsey done this alone as when we tried this as a group it looked very tacky in our time line.At around 2.00 our time line was coming together but we faced the issue of the sound not flowing easily into the film.. Lindsey had cleverly altered the voice over issues but i had to sort out the issue of the soundtrack. This took me a long time to do as the IT technician had placed filters and transitions on the gravity soundtrack and altered some settings in order to make it flow,and i tried to replicate this. Though taking approximately 10 minutes I had successfully recreated what they did and completed our sound
I had to go off to my lesson as my teacher requested so Lindsey and Seren were left to add th finishing touches. They successfully finished our film and I am both relieved and satisfied it is finished.
