Research: Blog Task 4 (Art of the title) - Analysis of title sequence 21 Jump Street

21 Jump Street (analysis of title sequence)

Which credits do we see & the order:
The title sequence is seen at the end of the movie. The credits we see in this title sequence is the people were involved making the film. The order we see the credits is by seeing the main crew who was involved in producing the movie the 'production crew', starting with the Directors Phil Lord & Christopher Miller, ScreenPlay by Michael Bacall, Story by Michael Bacall & Jonah Hill, Based on Television series created by Patrick Hasburgh & Stephen J. Cannel, Produced by Neal H. Moritz & Stephen J. Cannel,  Executive producers i.e. Jonah Hill & Channing Tatum, Director of Photography, Production designer, Editor Joel Negron. It then continues with with the main stars of the film (actors/actresses) Jonah Hill(Schmidt), Channing Tatum(Jenko), Brie Larson(Molly Tracey), Dave Franco(Eric Molson), Rob Riggle(Mr.Walters), DeRay Davis(Domingo) and Ice Cube(Captain Dickson) and continues with the minor actors/actresses, Casting by, Music by, and ends with the Costume designer.

What font type is used for the titles?/Where do we see it in the frame?
The font used in this title sequence is an Arial font which is Bold and Italic, Both the credits and the title is in an Arial font. Through out the title sequence each name appears in the centre of the frame and then slides(moves) to either the left or right. The credits and title is in capital letters, some of the fonts is larger than others as shown in the image below.

What happens behind the font?
Behind the font there is a lot of action e.g. explosions, drugs, sex, scenes from the movie with the characters Jenko and Schmidt, money, guns (shooting), driving cars and many more. There are a variety of short clips which are put together and shown in a very fast motion. There is both diegetic and non-diegetic sound used for example diegetic sounds: dialogue, characters speaking, car crashing. Non-diegetic sounds: (foley sounds) explosions, typing, the Sound track, gun shots and many more.

Why i chose this sequence?
I like this sequence because it is fast paced and very energetic. Also my favourite actors are in the sequence like Jonah hill and Channing Tatum which makes me want to watch the title sequence as well as the film. The reason why i chose this sequence is because my favourite actors star init, which means i already know the film is going to be funny and enjoyable to view.

The response to the title from the Designer and other people
Response from other people: "It doesn't give too much away"
                                                      "It's really funny!"

"There is a lot going on sop you don't get bored when watching it"

Response from designer: Brian Mah. Mah said that "I loved the idea of creating our own version of that and allowing the action to be exciting, random, and ridiculous. I wanted to create something which would reference moments from within the film but which also alluded to events without — as if there were episodes that the viewer hadn’t seen. Thirdly — and this may sound funny — but we also took inspiration from stock footage."
Each sequence posed its own technical and conceptual challenges. e.g. the “Edited by” card is paired with an axe hacking away at a tree stump and the “Executive Producer” cards are paired with stacks of money and vaults being blown up.
The opening titles was a challenge in pacing and integration. The goal was to create an energetic introduction while keeping it simple enough that it didn’t detract from the story.
