Prodcution:An Exhausting Day and Finding The Perfect Soundtrack. (Reflection 5/03/2015)

Today was the last inclass editing session. It was a very long day and editing didnt go as planend.First of all Me , Seren and Lindsey went away witht he editing process. Lindsey added the voiceovers to our film whilst me and Seren chose and selected our music for our soundtrack. It was a quick process as It was easy to search for sounds through YouTube and i myself was quite familiar with searching for soundtracks as i had some practice earlier on during the planning for our film. Once Lindsey added the voiceovers we were faced with the issu of it sounding like a badly dubbed movie just as i have expected. The voiceobers wh=ere out of sync and the the audio was echoed. We werent sure how to solve the issues and so did not complete it in the lesson.Instead of worring about these issues and seren went ahead and converted our youtube clip into an mp4 file.We done this through clipgrab and there were no problems doing this.

In terms of the soundtrack this process was very successful. Although we came across the problem of copyright but having realized the creator of the music gave us permission to use it as long as we read the copyright policy which didn't take long and me and Seren both done this.

However we had a single 1hr and a half lesson and couldnt all finish editing andsound intime as my Seren,Lindsey and Jakub all had lessons to attentd at three whereas i didnt. Therefore they went to their lessons and i stayed in the media classroom andsecured the room. I was advised to blog and only secure our workspace but having watched alot of movies and realisng how important the sound was i decided to crack on and add the sound. I imported our clips from 'clip grab' and the clips i have an another blog post about. It was really fun to play around with the sound and since my group were absent i could freely experiment with final cut pro. I ended up exploring more on youtube and finidng the 'Gravity' sountrack which i completly loved and decided to add it into my timeline. Layering my first piece of music with the gravity sountrack gave my filmm more depth and added more suspense. I had difficulties however during playback and had to consult the IT technicians only to realise that i hadnt cropped the clip properly.

The soundtrack wasn't the only thing i worked on when my group werent present. I noticed how there were too many tacky and messy cuts which made the film look bad. I consulted the IT technician and he solved the issue of place an audio filter where it was needed. It did make the scene flow easily but i personally feel it was because of the way the scene was filmed and cut. The IT technician said himself the sound quality was poor as the background noise suffocated the dialogue. If i was to film this scene again i would do it during the morning where the environment would be less quiet and film more shots within one take instead of joining multiple shots together.

With our film at the moment sounding like a badly dubbed movie,a rough soundtrack, and the need for video transitions, i am worried about meeting the deadline tomorrow. Me and my group are planning to edit in the morning before 9am and to sacrifice our lunch time in order to correct these errors in our films and produce a decent film before the deadline at 4.00 tomorow
